About Dr. Matt
Durrans
Dr Matthew Durrans completed his medical training and his first degree in orthopaedic surgery from Stellenbosch University. He obtained his third degree; in orthopaedic surgery; from the Colleges of Medicine of Southern Africa.
While completing his degrees, he earned both the Dr Joe De Beer shoulder prize and the Dr Spike Erasmus prize. After graduating in 2009, he worked under Dr Heine De Jongh and Dr Antoon De Klerk in a fellowship-like hip and knee arthroplasty program until 2015. He also headed up the Upper Limb Unit at Paarl Provincial Hospital. At present, he is in full-time private
practice at Cape Gate Mediclinic.
He is also a member of the South African Orthopaedic Association, The South African Foot and Ankle Society, The South African Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons Society, and he is an international member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
